You will also need to determine if you want to attend classes online or commute to a local campus. If you choose the latter, then obviously the location of the college will be critical. The price of tuition and supplementary expenses will be a determining factor also. But in addition to cost and location, what more should you factor in when reviewing schools? Well, you should check out if the colleges are accredited, and if they sponsor externship or internship programs. To help you find out some of these essential details prior to making your decision, we have assembled a list of questions that you should ask the colleges you are assessing.

Are the Radiology Tech Schools Accredited? The majority of radiology technician schools have received some type of accreditation, whether national or regional. Even so, it’s still important to confirm that the program and school are accredited. Among the most highly regarded accrediting organizations in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Programs obtaining accreditation from the JRCERT have gone through a rigorous review of their teachers and course materials. If the program is online it might also earn accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which targets distance or online education. All accrediting agencies should be acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Besides guaranteeing a premium education, accreditation will also assist in getting financial assistance and student loans, which are many times not offered for non-accredited colleges. Accreditation may also be a pre-requisite for certification and licensing as required. And a number of Pearlington MS employers will only hire a graduate of an accredited program for entry level jobs.

Are Internship Programs Offered? Inquire if the xray technician schools you are assessing have partnerships with local clinics or hospitals for internship programs. Internships are not only an excellent way to obtain hands on training in a clinical setting, they are additionally a way to fulfill the practical training requirement for most programs. As an ancillary benefit, they can help graduates and students develop professional connections in the Pearlington MS healthcare community and help with job placement.

Is Job Placement Assistance offered? You will undoubtedly wish to secure employment quickly after graduating, but finding that initial job in Pearlington MS in a new profession can be difficult without assistance. Find out if the x-ray tech programs you are reviewing have job assistance programs and what their success rates are. Rapid and high placement rates are a good sign that the schools have substantial networks and good relationships with Mississippi healthcare employers. It also confirms that their students are well regarded and sought after.

Where is the Program Located? For a lot of students, the college they select will need to be within travelling distance of their Pearlington MS residence. Individuals who have decided to attend classes online naturally will not have to worry themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of local internships will be of concern. One thing to consider is that if you choose to enroll in a college that is out of state or perhaps out of your local area, you may need to pay a higher tuition. State colleges normally charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges commonly charge a higher tuition to those students that live outside of their districts.

What are the Class Sizes ? Unless you are the type of student that likes to sit far in the back of the classroom or get lost in the crowd, you will likely want a smaller class size. Small classes enable more individual participation and personalized instruction. Ask the Pearlington MS colleges you are reviewing what the typical student to teacher ratio is for their classrooms. If practical you may want to monitor one or more classes before making your final determination. This will also give you a chance to speak with several of the students and instructors to get their perspectives regarding the radiology tech program also.

Does the Program Accommodate your Schedule? And last you need to confirm that the radiographer  school you ultimately select can provide the class schedule you need. This is especially crucial if you decide to continue working while attending classes. If you must schedule night or weekend classes in the Pearlington MS area, make sure that they are offered. If you can only enroll on a part-time basis, verify if that is an option and how many courses or credit hours you would need to enroll in. Also, learn what the protocol is for making up any classes that you might miss as a result of work, illness or family obligations.
