What to Ask Radiology Tech Schools

You will also need to determine if you prefer to attend online classes or commute to a nearby campus. If you choose the latter, then naturally the location of the college will be relevant. The price of tuition and secondary expenditures will be a determining variable as well. But along with location and cost, what else should you factor in when comparing schools? Well, you need to ask if the schools are accredited, and if they sponsor internship or externship programs. To help you uncover some of these essential details before you make your decision, we have compiled a list of questions that you should ask the colleges you are looking at.

Are the Radiology Tech Programs Accredited? A large number of radiology technician colleges have acquired some type of accreditation, whether national or regional. Even so, it’s still crucial to make sure that the program and school are accredited. Among the most highly regarded accrediting agencies in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Programs receiving accreditation from the JRCERT have undergone an extensive assessment of their teachers and educational materials. If the college is online it may also earn accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which targets distance or online education. All accrediting agencies should be acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. In addition to ensuring a premium education, accreditation will also help in acquiring financial assistance and student loans, which are many times not accessible for non-accredited schools. Accreditation may also be a pre-requisite for licensing and certification as required. And a number of Marina CA employers will only hire graduates of an accredited college for entry level openings.

Are Internships Offered? Ask if the radiology tech schools you are assessing have associations with area clinics or hospitals for internship programs. Not only are internships an excellent means to get practical training in a clinical setting, they are also a means to satisfy the practical training requirement for the majority of programs. As a secondary benefit, they can assist students and graduates establish professional connections in the Marina CA medical community and assist with obtaining employment.

Is Job Placement Assistance offered? You will probably want to hit the ground running after graduation, but finding that first job in Marina CA in a new field can be challenging without assistance. Ask if the radiographer programs you are assessing have job placement programs and what their success rates are. Rapid and high placement rates are an excellent sign that the schools have sizable networks and great relationships with California healthcare employers. It also confirms that their students are well regarded and in demand.

Where is the College Located? For a lot of students, the college they select will have to be within travelling distance of their Marina CA home. Students who have decided to attend online classes naturally will not have to concern themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of local internships will be of importance. One thing to consider is that if you choose to enroll in a school that is out of state or even out of your local area, you might need to pay a higher tuition. State colleges usually charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges typically charge a higher tuition for those students that don’t reside within their districts.

How Large are the Classes ? Unless you are the sort of student that likes to sit far in the back of the classroom or get lost in the crowd, you will undoubtedly prefer a smaller class size. Small classes enable more individual participation and personalized instruction. Ask the Marina CA schools you are considering what the typical student to teacher ratio is for their classes. If practical you may prefer to sit in on one or more classes before making your ultimate determination. This will also give you a chance to converse with several of the instructors and students to get their perspectives regarding the xray tech program also.

Can the School Accommodate your Schedule? And last you must confirm that the xray tech  school you ultimately pick can provide the class schedule you need. This is especially crucial if you choose to continue working while attending school. If you need to schedule night or weekend classes in the Marina CA area, check that they are offered. If you can only enroll on a part-time basis, find out if that is an alternative and how many credit hours or courses you would need to enroll in. Also, learn what the procedure is for making up any classes that you might miss because of work, illness or family emergencies.

    Marina, California

Marina is a city in Monterey County, California, United States. The United States Census Bureau estimated its 2018 population at 22,535.[9] Marina is located along the central coast of California, 8 miles (13 km) west of Salinas,[10] and 8 miles north of Monterey. Marina is also connected to Monterey, California by California State Route 1, which also connects it with Santa Cruz, California, after driving for about 35 miles. Marina is at an elevation of 43 feet (13 m).[7] Marina was incorporated in 1975 and is the newest city on the Monterey Peninsula. The city includes part of the California State University, Monterey Bay campus, UC Santa Cruz UC MBEST center, and the Veterans Transition Center (VTC). In 2012, Marina was named one of the 100 Best Community for Young People by America's Promise Alliance.[11] The Fort Ord Station Veterinary Hospital, built in 1941 to provide healthcare for U.S. Army horses and mules, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. This is the first such official recognition on old Fort Ord.

William Locke-Paddon founded the town on 1,500 acres (6.1 km2) of land he bought for the purpose.[10] The Marina post office opened in 1916.[10] Marina incorporated in 1975.[10] The City's history is intertwined with that of Fort Ord. Fort Ord lands were used as an infantry training center since the Mexican–American War. Major growth took place in 1938 with the first joint Army and Navy maneuvers held in 1940.

Fort Ord was selected in 1991 for decommissioning and the post formally closed after troop reassignment in 1994. In July 1994 the first academic year of California State University, Monterey Bay opened, and barracks were soon transformed into dorms.
