You will also have to determine if you want to attend classes online or drive to a nearby campus. If you choose the latter, then obviously the location of the school will be important. The price of tuition and secondary expenses will be a material factor as well. But in addition to cost and location, what else should you consider when comparing colleges? Well, you need to find out if the colleges are accredited, and if they provide internship or externship programs. To help you learn some of these essential details prior to making your selection, we have assembled a list of questions that you must ask the schools you are looking at.

Are the Radiology Tech Colleges Accredited? A large number of xray technician schools have acquired some type of accreditation, whether national or regional. Nevertheless, it’s still crucial to make sure that the school and program are accredited. Among the most highly regarded accrediting organizations in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Programs earning accreditation from the JRCERT have gone through a rigorous review of their instructors and educational materials. If the program is online it might also obtain accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which focuses on online or distance learning. All accrediting agencies should be acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Along with guaranteeing a superior education, accreditation will also assist in acquiring financial assistance and student loans, which are often not accessible for non-accredited colleges. Accreditation might also be a pre-requisite for certification and licensing as required. And a number of Toccoa GA employers will only hire graduates of an accredited college for entry level positions.

Are Internships Offered? Ask if the xray technician programs you are evaluating have associations with regional clinics or hospitals for internship programs. Not only are internships a great way to obtain practical training in a clinical setting, they are also a way to fulfill the clinical training requirement for the majority of programs. As an ancillary benefit, they may assist graduates and students form professional relationships in the Toccoa GA health care community and assist with obtaining employment.

Is Job Placement Assistance available? You will undoubtedly wish to hit the ground running after graduation, but getting that first job in Toccoa GA in a new profession can be difficult without support. Find out if the x-ray tech programs you are assessing have job placement programs and what their placement rates are. High and rapid placement rates are a good sign that the schools have sizable networks and good relationships with Georgia healthcare employers. It also substantiates that their students are well regarded and in demand.

Where is the Program Located? For a number of students, the school they pick will have to be within travelling distance of their Toccoa GA residence. Students who have chosen to attend online classes obviously will not have to worry themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of area internships will be of concern. One thing to consider is that if you choose to enroll in a program that is out of state or even out of your local area, you may need to pay a higher tuition. State colleges normally charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges normally charge a higher tuition to those students that live outside of their districts.

What are the Class Sizes ? Unless you are the type of student that likes to sit way in the rear of class or get lost in the crowd, you will likely prefer a small class size. Smaller classes permit more individual participation and personalized instruction. Ask the Toccoa GA schools you are reviewing what the average teacher to student ratio is for their classrooms. If practical you may prefer to sit in on one or more classes before making your final determination. This will also give you a chance to speak with several of the students and instructors to get their opinions regarding the radiology tech program also.

Does the School Accommodate your Schedule? And finally you need to confirm that the xray tech  college you ultimately pick can offer the class schedule you need. This is especially essential if you decide to continue working while attending school. If you must schedule night or weekend classes in the Toccoa GA area, check that they are offered. If you can only enroll on a part-time basis, find out if that is an option and how many credit hours or courses you would have to carry. Also, learn what the procedure is for making up any classes that you may miss as a result of work, illness or family obligations.

    Toccoa, Georgia

Toccoa is a city in, and the county seat of, Stephens County, Georgia, United States,[6][7] located about 50 miles (80 km) from Athens and about 90 miles (140 km) northeast of Atlanta. The population was 8,491 as of the 2010 census.

Indian agent Col. George Chicken was one of the first people to mention Toccoa in his journal from 1725.[8] The first residents of European descent were a small number of American Revolutionary War veterans led by Col. William H. Wofford who moved to the area when the war ended. The area was referred to as Wofford's Tract, or Wofford's Settlement. Col. Wofford is buried near Toccoa Falls. His son, William T. Wofford, was born near Toccoa (then part of Habersham County), and was an officer during the Mexican–American War and a general in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War.

The Georgia Land Lottery of 1820 spurred the migration of Scots-Irish from North Carolina and the Georgia coast. The Georgia Gold Rush, starting in 1828,[9] and the 1838 removal of the Cherokee on the infamous "Trail of Tears" further changed settlement patterns in the area.
