The cost of tuition and ancillary expenditures will be a determining variable also. But in addition to location and cost, what more should you look at when evaluating colleges? Well, you should find out if the schools are accredited, and if they sponsor internship or externship programs. To help you uncover some of these important details prior to making your decision, we have compiled a list of questions that you should ask the colleges you are looking at.

Are the Radiology Technician Programs Accredited? Most xray technician colleges have earned some form of accreditation, whether regional or national. Nevertheless, it’s still crucial to confirm that the school and program are accredited. One of the most highly regarded accrediting organizations in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Programs obtaining accreditation from the JRCERT have gone through a rigorous examination of their instructors and course materials. If the school is online it can also obtain accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which focuses on distance or online learning. All accrediting agencies should be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Along with ensuring a quality education, accreditation will also help in obtaining financial assistance and student loans, which are frequently not accessible for non-accredited colleges. Accreditation might also be a pre-requisite for licensing and certification as required. And many Fairland OK health facilities will only hire graduates of an accredited school for entry-level jobs.

Are Internship Programs Provided? Find out if the radiology tech schools you are reviewing have partnerships with local hospitals or clinics for internship programs. Internships are not only a terrific means to receive hands on training in a clinical environment, they are also a way to fulfill the practical training requirement for the majority of programs. As a secondary benefit, they may help graduates and students establish professional relationships in the Fairland OK health care community and assist with job placement.

Is Job Placement Help available? You will undoubtedly wish to hit the ground running after graduating, but finding that initial job in Fairland OK in a new profession can be difficult without assistance. Find out if the radiographer schools you are interviewing have job assistance programs and what their placement rates are. High and rapid placement rates are a good indication that the schools have large networks and good relationships with Oklahoma healthcare employers. It also corroborates that their students are well regarded and in demand.

Where is the College Located? For a lot of students, the college they pick will have to be within commuting distance of their Fairland OK home. Those who have chosen to attend online classes obviously will not have to worry themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of local internships will be of importance. Something to bear in mind is that if you choose to enroll in a school that is out of state or even out of your local area, you may have to pay a higher tuition. State colleges commonly charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges frequently charge a higher tuition to those students that live outside of their districts.

What are the Class Sizes ? Unless you are the type of student that likes to sit far in the back of class or hide in the crowd, you will probably prefer a small class size. Smaller classes permit more individual participation and personalized instruction. Ask the Fairland OK schools you are looking at what the average student to teacher ratio is for their classes. If practical you may prefer to monitor one or more classes before making your final decision. This will also give you a chance to talk with several of the instructors and students to get their opinions regarding the radiology technician program also.

Does the School Accommodate your Schedule? And last you must verify that the xray tech  school you finally select can furnish the class schedule you need. This is particularly essential if you opt to continue working while you attend school. If you need to schedule evening or weekend classes in the Fairland OK area, confirm that they are offered. If you can only attend part-time, find out if that is an option and how many courses or credit hours you would have to enroll in.
