The price of tuition and supplementary expenses will be a determining factor as well. But in addition to location and cost, what more should you factor in when comparing schools? Well, you should ask if the colleges are accredited, and if they provide internship or externship programs. To help you find out some of these important details prior to making your selection, we have compiled a list of questions that you must ask the programs you are looking at.

Are the X-Ray Technician Schools Accredited? A large number of radiology tech schools have earned some type of accreditation, whether national or regional. Even so, it’s still imperative to verify that the program and school are accredited. Among the most highly respected accrediting organizations in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Programs earning accreditation from the JRCERT have undergone an extensive assessment of their instructors and course materials. If the school is online it may also earn accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which targets distance or online education. All accrediting organizations should be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. In addition to ensuring a quality education, accreditation will also help in obtaining financial aid and student loans, which are many times not offered for non-accredited programs. Accreditation can also be a pre-requisite for licensing and certification as required. And many Kamas UT employers will only hire a graduate of an accredited program for entry-level positions.

Are Internships Sponsored? Inquire if the xray technician colleges you are assessing have relationships with area hospitals or clinics for internship programs. Ask if the radiographer schools you are assessing have job assistance programs and what their placement rates are. High and rapid placement rates are a good sign that the schools have large networks and great relationships with Utah healthcare employers. It also substantiates that their graduates are well regarded and in demand.

Where is the School Located? For many students, the college they decide on will have to be within driving distance of their Kamas UT residence. Individuals who have opted to attend classes online obviously will not have to worry themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of local internships will be of importance. Something to keep in mind is that if you choose to enroll in a school that is out of state or perhaps out of your local area, you may be required to pay a higher tuition. State colleges usually charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges normally charge a higher tuition for those students that live outside of their districts.

What Size are the Classes ? Unless you are the kind of student that prefers to sit way in the rear of class or hide in the crowd, you will likely prefer a small class size. Smaller classes enable more individual participation and one-on-one instruction. Ask the Kamas UT colleges you are researching what the typical student to teacher ratio is for their classrooms. If practical you may want to monitor one or more classes before making your final determination. This will also give you a chance to converse with some of the students and instructors to get their opinions regarding the radiology tech program as well.

Can the Program Accommodate your Schedule? And finally you need to confirm that the xray tech  program you ultimately select can provide the class schedule you need. This is particularly essential if you decide to continue working while you attend classes. If you must schedule night or weekend classes in the Kamas UT area, confirm that they are available. If you can only attend part-time, find out if that is an option and how many courses or credit hours you would have to carry.
