Some states also require certification as part of the licensing process, otherwise it is optional. Having said that, many Raymond area employers would rather hire radiology techs that are certified so it may improve your career options in and around Raymond ME to earn certification. ARRT also demands re-certification every 2 years, which may be satisfied with 24 credits of continuing ed, or by passing an examination.

Online Radiology Technician Degrees

Raymond ME student attending online x-ray tech schoolAs a component of every degree program, x-ray tech colleges will have clinical or lab training included in their course of study. This is the same for online degree schools. So even though you can still obtain your degree online, a significant portion of the training will be fulfilled either in a college lab or in an internship off campus. Clinical training is usually carried out in Raymond ME hospitals, outpatient clinics or private practices in sponsorship with the colleges. But the online segment of the training may be attended in the comfort of your Raymond home. Students who continue working while earning their degree typically find that the online style of learning is much more practical with their active schedules. Plus online schools are generally more affordable than conventional options. Along with lower tuition, expenses for study materials and commuting may be reduced also. But just confirm that the online college you pick is accredited (more on the benefits of accreditation later). So if you are disciplined enough to learn with this less structured style of training, then an online degree may be the ideal option for you.

Subjects to Ask X Ray Tech Colleges

After you have decided on the kind of degree that you would like to obtain, you can initiate the process of locating and assessing x-ray technician schools near Raymond ME. You will also have to determine if you want to attend classes online or travel to a local campus. If you opt for the latter, then obviously the location of the college will be relevant. The cost of tuition and secondary expenses will be a material variable also. But in addition to cost and location, what more should you look at when evaluating schools? Well, you should ask if the colleges are accredited, and if they sponsor externship or internship programs. To help you learn some of these important details before you make your selection, we have assembled a list of questions that you must ask the programs you are looking at.

Are the Radiology Technician Programs Accredited? Most xray tech colleges have received some form of accreditation, whether regional or national. Even so, it’s still important to confirm that the school and program are accredited. One of the most highly respected accrediting agencies in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Programs receiving accreditation from the JRCERT have undergone a rigorous review of their instructors and educational materials. If the school is online it may also earn accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which focuses on online or distance education. All accrediting agencies should be acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. In addition to ensuring a superior education, accreditation will also help in securing financial aid and student loans, which are frequently not accessible for non-accredited programs. Accreditation may also be a pre-requisite for certification and licensing as required. And a number of Raymond ME health facilities will only hire a graduate of an accredited program for entry-level positions.

Are Internships Offered? Ask if the radiology tech programs you are reviewing have relationships with area clinics or hospitals for internship programs. Internships are not only a terrific manner to get practical training in a clinical setting, they are additionally a means to satisfy the clinical training requirement for the majority of programs. As an ancillary benefit, they may help students and graduates develop professional relationships in the Raymond ME healthcare community and help with obtaining employment.

Is Job Placement Assistance provided? You will probably wish to hit the ground running after graduating, but finding that initial job in Raymond ME in a new profession can be difficult without assistance. Ask if the radiographer programs you are assessing have job placement programs and what their success rates are. Rapid and high placement rates are an excellent indication that the schools have sizable networks and good relationships with Maine healthcare employers. It also confirms that their graduates are well regarded and sought after.

Where is the College Located? For a lot of students, the college they select will need to be within travelling distance of their Raymond ME home. Individuals who have chosen to attend classes online obviously will not have to concern themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of area internships will be of importance. One thing to consider is that if you decide to enroll in a college that is out of state or even out of your local area, you may be required to pay a higher tuition. State colleges often charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges normally charge a higher tuition for those students that don’t reside within their districts.

What are the Class Sizes ? Unless you are the kind of person that prefers to sit far in the rear of class or hide in the crowd, you will likely prefer a small class size. Smaller classes allow for more individual participation and one-on-one instruction. Ask the Raymond ME schools you are reviewing what the average student to teacher ratio is for their classrooms. If practical you may prefer to monitor one or more classes before making your ultimate decision. This will also give you a chance to talk with several of the instructors and students to get their opinions regarding the xray technician program as well.

Can the Program Accommodate your Schedule? And last you must verify that the radiographer  program you ultimately choose can offer the class schedule you need. This is particularly important if you decide to continue working while you attend school. If you need to schedule night or weekend classes in the Raymond ME area, confirm that they are offered. If you can only attend part-time, verify if that is an option and how many courses or credit hours you would have to carry. Also, learn what the procedure is for making up any classes that you might miss due to illness, work or family emergencies.

    Raymond, Maine

Raymond is a town in Cumberland County, Maine, United States. The population was 4,436 at the 2010 census.[4] It is a summer recreation area and is part of the Portland–South Portland–Biddeford, Maine metropolitan statistical area. Raymond Neck is the landing for the ferry to the town of Frye Island in Sebago Lake. The Raymond school system is currently affiliated with the Windham school system in a district known as RSU 14.

Raymondtown Plantation was granted in 1767 by the Massachusetts General Court to the descendants of Captain William Raymond of Beverly, Massachusetts, and his militia. It was the second attempt to repay the troop (or heirs) for service under Governor Sir William Phipps during the Battle of Quebec in 1690. A township had been awarded them in 1735 called Beverly-Canada (now Weare, New Hampshire), but in 1741 descendants of John Mason proved a prior claim.[5]

The township at Sebago Lake was given to the Beverly Proprietors as compensation. It was first settled in 1770 by Captain Joseph Dingley and Dominicus Jordan of Cape Elizabeth, although most families arrived after the Revolutionary War. It was on the stage route to Bridgton. On June 21, 1803, the Raymondtown Plantation was incorporated as Raymond, named in honor of Captain Raymond. In 1829, land was annexed to help form the new town of Naples, and in 1841, Casco was set off and incorporated as a town.[6]
