Well, you need to find out if the schools are accredited, and if they provide externship or internship programs. One of the most highly regarded accrediting organizations in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Schools receiving accreditation from the JRCERT have undergone an extensive evaluation of their instructors and course materials. If the program is online it may also earn accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which targets distance or online learning. All accrediting organizations should be acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Besides guaranteeing a superior education, accreditation will also assist in securing financial aid and student loans, which are many times not offered for non-accredited programs. Accreditation can also be a pre-requisite for certification and licensing as required. And many East Stroudsburg PA health facilities will only hire graduates of an accredited program for entry-level jobs.

Are Internship Programs Sponsored? Ask if the radiology tech programs you are assessing have relationships with regional clinics or hospitals for internship programs. High and rapid placement rates are an excellent sign that the schools have large networks and good relationships with Pennsylvania healthcare employers. It also substantiates that their graduates are highly regarded and sought after.

Where is the College Located? For many students, the college they choose will need to be within commuting distance of their East Stroudsburg PA residence. Students who have chosen to attend classes online naturally will not have to trouble themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of local internships will be of concern. Something to consider is that if you choose to enroll in a college that is out of state or even out of your local area, you may need to pay a higher tuition. State colleges usually charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges generally charge a higher tuition for those students that don’t reside within their districts.

How Big are the Classes ? Unless you are the kind of student that prefers to sit far in the rear of the classroom or hide in the crowd, you will probably prefer a smaller class size. Small classes permit more individual participation and personalized instruction. Ask the East Stroudsburg PA colleges you are researching what the typical student to teacher ratio is for their classrooms. If practical you may prefer to sit in on one or more classes before making your final decision. This will also give you an opportunity to speak with a few of the students and instructors to get their perspectives regarding the xray tech program also.

Does the School Accommodate your Schedule? And finally you must confirm that the radiographer  college you finally select can provide the class schedule you need. This is particularly important if you choose to continue working while attending school. If you need to schedule evening or weekend classes in the East Stroudsburg PA area, make sure that they are available.
