An Associate Degree, which is the most typical among technicians, usually requires 18 months to 2 years to complete based upon the course load and program. A Bachelor’s Degree will take more time at as much as four years to finish and is more extensive in scope. The majority of students choose a degree major in Radiography, but there are additional related majors that may be appropriate as well. One thing to consider is that radiographer programs have a practical training or lab component as a component of their course of study. After you have graduated from one of the degree programs, you must abide by any certification or licensing mandates in Tennessee or the state you will be working as applicable.

Currently, all states that do mandate licensure will accept The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination for the licensing application, but several approve other alternatives for testing also. Some states also call for certification as part of the licensing procedure, if not it is voluntary. However, numerous Bells area employers prefer to hire radiology techs that are certified so it could enhance your career options in and around Bells TN to become certified. ARRT’s certification program involves graduation from an accepted program as well as a passing score on their comprehensive exam. ARRT also requires re-certification every two years, which may be met with 24 credits of continuing education, or by passing an exam.

But the online section of the training can be attended in the privacy of your Bells home. Students who keep working while earning their degree typically discover that the online style of learning is much more practical with their busy schedules. Plus online programs are often cheaper than conventional options. Along with lower tuition, expenditures for study materials and commuting can be reduced also. But just make sure that the online college you enroll in is accredited (more on the benefits of accreditation later). So if you are dedicated enough to learn with this less formalized type of training, then an online degree may be the ideal choice for you.

Subjects to Ask Radiographer Schools

When you have chosen the kind of degree that you would like to obtain, you can start the process of searching for and evaluating x-ray technician colleges near Bells TN. You will also have to determine if you prefer to attend online classes or travel to a nearby campus. If you choose the latter, then naturally the location of the college will be relevant. The cost of tuition and secondary expenditures will be a material factor as well. But along with location and cost, what more should you factor in when reviewing colleges? Well, you need to find out if the colleges are accredited, and if they provide internship or externship programs. To help you learn some of these essential details before you make your decision, we have put together a list of questions that you must ask the schools you are reviewing.

Are the Radiology Technician Schools Accredited? A large number of xray tech schools have earned some type of accreditation, whether national or regional. Nevertheless, it’s still imperative to make sure that the school and program are accredited. One of the most highly respected accrediting agencies in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Programs earning accreditation from the JRCERT have gone through a detailed assessment of their instructors and course materials. If the school is online it can also earn accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which targets distance or online learning. All accrediting agencies should be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Besides guaranteeing a superior education, accreditation will also assist in acquiring financial assistance and student loans, which are often not available for non-accredited colleges. Accreditation might also be a pre-requisite for certification and licensing as required. And numerous Bells TN health facilities will only hire a graduate of an accredited program for entry level positions.

Are Internship Programs Provided? Inquire if the xray tech programs you are interested in have relationships with regional clinics or hospitals for internship programs. Not only are internships a great way to obtain hands on experience in a clinical environment, they are additionally a means to satisfy the practical training requirement for the majority of programs. As an ancillary benefit, they can help graduates and students form professional relationships in the Bells TN healthcare community and assist with obtaining employment.

Is Job Placement Help provided? You will most likely wish to secure employment quickly after graduating, but finding that first job in Bells TN in a new profession can be difficult without support. Find out if the radiographer programs you are reviewing have job assistance programs and what their placement rates are. High and rapid placement rates are an excellent indication that the schools have sizable networks and great relationships with Tennessee healthcare employers. It also substantiates that their students are highly regarded and in demand.

Where is the Program Located? For a number of students, the college they choose will need to be within driving distance of their Bells TN home. Individuals who have decided to attend online classes obviously will not have to trouble themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of area internships will be of importance. One thing to keep in mind is that if you decide to enroll in a school that is out of state or perhaps out of your local area, you may have to pay a higher tuition. State colleges commonly charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges usually charge a higher tuition for those students that don’t reside within their districts.

What are the Class Sizes ? Unless you are the kind of student that likes to sit way in the rear of class or get lost in the crowd, you will likely want a small class size. Small classes allow for more individual participation and one-on-one instruction. Ask the Bells TN colleges you are looking at what the typical teacher to student ratio is for their classes. If practical you may want to monitor one or more classes before making your ultimate determination. This will also give you an opportunity to talk with several of the instructors and students to get their perspectives regarding the radiology tech program also.

Does the College Accommodate your Schedule? And last you must confirm that the radiographer  program you ultimately pick can furnish the class schedule you need. This is particularly essential if you decide to continue working while attending classes. If you must schedule evening or weekend classes in the Bells TN area, check that they are offered. If you can only enroll on a part-time basis, find out if that is an option and how many credit hours or courses you would need to carry. Also, learn what the procedure is for making up any classes that you may miss as a result of illness, work or family obligations.

    Bells, Tennessee

Bells evolved from a settlement established in the late 1820s on land acquired by brothers John and William Bell. When a city was founded on this land in 1855, it was given the name "Bells Depot." The city was incorporated in 1868, and the "Depot" was dropped from the name in 1880.[5]

Bells was the home of the now-defunct West Tennessee Okra Festival. The festival included a horse show, beauty pageant, street carnival and other activities and shows. The Festival was always held during August, the peak of the okra season.

Bells is located at 35°43′6″N 89°5′7″W / 35.71833°N 89.08528°W / 35.71833; -89.08528 (35.718423, -89.085385).[6] The city is concentrated around the intersection of a congruent stretch of U.S. Route 70A and U.S. Route 79, which approaches from Brownsville to the southwest and continues northeastwardly to Humboldt, and State Route 88, which connects the city to Alamo to the northwest and Jackson to the southeast. The South Fork of the Forked Deer River passes just south of Bells.
