The price of tuition and supplementary expenditures will be a material factor as well. But along with location and cost, what more should you look at when reviewing schools? Well, you need to find out if the colleges are accredited, and if they provide externship or internship programs. To help you uncover some of these crucial details prior to making your selection, we have put together a list of questions that you should ask the schools you are reviewing.

However, it’s still important to verify that the school and program are accredited. Among the most highly respected accrediting agencies in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Schools earning accreditation from the JRCERT have undergone a detailed review of their teachers and educational materials. If the program is online it might also obtain accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which focuses on online or distance education. All accrediting agencies should be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Besides guaranteeing a quality education, accreditation will also help in obtaining financial assistance and student loans, which are many times not offered for non-accredited programs. Accreditation might also be a pre-requisite for licensing and certification as required. And many Edenton NC health facilities will only hire graduates of an accredited college for entry level jobs.

Are Internships Provided? Ask if the radiology tech colleges you are reviewing have partnerships with local clinics or hospitals for internship programs. Internships are not only a great manner to receive practical training in a clinical environment, they are additionally a way to satisfy the practical training requirement for the majority of programs. Rapid and high placement rates are an excellent indication that the schools have sizable networks and great relationships with North Carolina healthcare employers. It also substantiates that their students are well regarded and sought after.

Where is the Program Located? For a number of students, the college they select will need to be within travelling distance of their Edenton NC home. Individuals who have chosen to attend online classes obviously will not have to trouble themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of area internships will be of importance. Something to keep in mind is that if you choose to enroll in a college that is out of state or perhaps out of your local area, you might need to pay a higher tuition. State colleges usually charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges normally charge a higher tuition for those students that live outside of their districts.

How Large are the Classes ? Unless you are the kind of person that likes to sit far in the back of the classroom or get lost in the crowd, you will probably prefer a smaller class size. Smaller classes allow for more individual participation and personalized instruction. Ask the Edenton NC colleges you are considering what the average teacher to student ratio is for their classrooms. If practical you may prefer to monitor one or more classes before making your final determination. This will also give you an opportunity to talk with a few of the students and instructors to get their opinions regarding the radiology tech program also.

Does the Program Accommodate your Schedule? And last you must confirm that the xray tech  program you finally select can furnish the class schedule you need. This is particularly important if you choose to continue working while attending school. If you must schedule evening or weekend classes in the Edenton NC area, verify that they are available.
